For the first time ever, Delaware is hosting a PGA Tour event for this week's BMW Championship. The event is being held at the exclusive Wilmington Country Club, currently ranked #2 at GolfWeek's best private courses for the state of Delaware. Just some history with Wilmington, as the club was founded in 1901 two years after the debut of the Western Open, which is now BMW Championship. While the club has not hosted a professional golf event before, prestigious amateur events have included the 1913 U.S. Women’s Amateur and the 1971 U.S. Amateur, which featured a then-19-year-old Ben Crenshaw prowling the fairways.
