Nasa Hataoka and Marina Alex both shot 7-under 65s in the return Thursday of the LPGA to Fort Myers for the first time in 47 years at the 2022 LPGA Drive-On Championship. Held at Crown Colony Golf & Country Club, world #2 Nelly Korda, Yuka Saso, and Brooke Henderson aren’t in the top 50 in the field after the first round of the tournament. Meanwhile, Nelly’s older sister Jessica withdrew after six holes, saying on social media she suffered a sprained rib and had tried to play through it. Hataoka birdied #17 and 18 to close her first nine then shot a 4-under 32 (1 bogey) on the back while Alex birdied #9-13 and closed with another on #18 in a bogey-free round.
