After winning the Valspar, Sam Burns out of WGC-Dell Match Play

Sam Burns has been on a solid run of form with a T9 finish 2 weeks ago at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, a T26 showing at the Players Championship last week and a playoff win Sunday to defend his Valspar Championship title. But this Monday morning, Burns withdrew from this week’s WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play just as the bracket is about to be revealed. Burns said that he needs to take a rest and prepare for a busy stretch after 3 weeks of golf activity and will be replaced in the field by Maverick McNealy, with Bernd Wiesberger as the first alternate.
