Wyndham Championship: Jason Day withdraws after the opening round due to illness

Due to an unspecified illness, former #1 Jason Day has withdrawn from the 2022 Wyndham Championship ahead of the 2nd round. He has developed a reputation for withdrawing from tournaments, often due to injury as his body has become increasingly brittle. His illness should be of less concern than a back injury for his ability to tee it up next week, wherein he's in the playing field at the FedEx St. Jude Championship in Memphis. Adam Long and Brian Gray also withdrew from the tournament before the second round, citing illness and wrist injury respectively.
