Jason Day out of the 2022 John Deere Classic field

Just before the start of the 2022 John Deere Classic, former world #1 Jason Day withdrew his name from the field. Day stated that it was a back injury that led to his withdrawal from the field and his replacement is Ted Potter III. Day has battled an assortment of injuries primarily to his back and has dealt with spasms that flare up periodically and has fallen back at the Official World Golf Ranking, currently at #137 after going winless for more than 3 years.
