Angel Cabrera convicted, sentenced for 2 years for assault and other charges

Argentine pro golfer Angel Cabrera has been sentenced to 2 years in prison for assault and harassment of his ex-partner. Last January 2021, Cabrera was arrested in Brazil after being issued a red notice by the Interpol for leaving Argentina while a trial is about to begin for the criminal charges, which also included theft. He remained behind bars in Brazil while waiting for extradition which took place just this past June. Cabrera is a two-time major title winner, having won the 2007 US Open and the 2009 Masters Tournament.
