TaylorMade’s first-generation P790s hit retail in 2017 (2nd in 2019) to introduce an entirely new category of “Player’s Distance” irons to the market, which also featured a hollow-body construction filled with a unique SpeedFoam material between the face and body to help boost ball speed and feel. Now on its third generation of P790 irons, TaylorMade developed a new “SpeedFoam Air” urethane material that’s 69 percent less dense and saves an average of 3.5 grams per head, lowering the center of gravity to improve launch, while the heads now use the thinnest faces in P790 franchise history.
