Madelene Sagstrom takes a 1 shot lead at the 2022 Cognizant Founders Cup

Madelene Sagstrom opened with 4 straight birdies to kickstart her week at the LPGA’s Cognizant Founders Cup. Then, she made 5 more over the course of her day (3 in a row on 12-14) at Upper Montclair Country Club to zoom up the leaderboard in the afternoon wave and take a 1-shot lead over Megan Khang. Seeking her first win since the 2020 Gainbridge LPGA, Sagstrom shot a 63 on the strength of those nine birdies while also avoiding any bogeys. Meanwhile, Khang also went bogey-free after she posted eight birdies while Nasa Hataoka shot a 7-under 65 which included 5 birdies and an eagle on the second hole.
