Reigning Masters champion Hideki Matsuyama pulled out of the Valero Texas Open on Friday. This sudden withdrawal heightened speculation that he will not be able to defend his Masters title this year. He withdrew from the Valero after just missing a hole-in-one on the 16th hole at the Oaks Course at TPC San Antonio. He said that he's been receiving treatments for his shoulder and neck injuries sustained during the recent Arnold Palmer Invitational, and he's itching for a full recovery so that he may be able to defend his title in Augusta.
