Matsuyama kicked into overdrive, carding a total of three birdies on the back nine and a punctuating eagle on the final hole to win his seventh career Tour title, and first-ever Tour victory on home soil in Japan by a whopping five shots over Brendan Steele and Cameron Tringale. Matsuyama was buoyed by the support from the Japanese gallery as he hit a 3-wood approach to 12 feet and drained the eagle putt on the par-5 18th and sealed the victory with an emphatic finish. Matsuyama is now only one victory away as the Asian player with the most Tour wins, looking to surpass KJ Choi (currently) with 8.
