AIG Women’s British Open: Hinako Shibuno takes a 1-shot lead after firing 65

Japanese superstar Hinako Shibuno birdied the first three holes en route to a 6-under 65 at historic Muirfield, at the 2022 AIG Women’s British Open. Known as the ‘Smiling Cinderella', Shibuno holds a a one-shot lead over Jessica Korda, who has been having a bad week after losing her luggage. Brooke Henderson, winner of the recent Amundi Evian Championship, bogeyed the last hole to shoot 70. Shibuno has three missed cuts and a withdrawal in her last four starts on the LPGA, but played well during the opening round and credits her performance to her caddie, who suggested a slight adjustment in her balance on the greens.
