Former world #1 Justin Rose has withdrawn his name from the field at the 2022 British Open due to a back injury. Rose has made 12 cuts in 16 starts this season on the PGA Tour and just this past month, he shot 60 in the final round of the RBC Canadian Open to finish T4. Rose has said numerous times that the British Open is the major he most desires, but only recorded just two top-10 finishes in 19 Open appearances, including a T2 finish in 2018 in Carnoustie. His replacement at the field is Japan Golf Tour mainstay Rikuya Hoshino.
